Connecting or Changing Wi-Fi on a Level Sense Pro or Sentry

Connecting a Level Sense Pro or Sentry to Wi-Fi

Before you start

You need three things:

  • A Level Sense Pro or Sentry with a white cloud LED. This applies to new devices and to devices moving to a new network. If the cloud LED is not white, follow the password reset steps in the section below first.
  • A phone, tablet, or laptop with Wi-Fi.
  • The name and password of a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The device does not connect to 5 GHz networks.

The Wi-Fi password is case-sensitive and space-sensitive. Some special characters are not supported, so check the password carefully before you enter it.

Step 1: Connect to the setup network

  1. On your phone, tablet, or laptop, connect to the Wi-Fi network named LEVEL SENSE.
  2. Phone: a setup page should open automatically. If it does not, open a browser.
  3. Computer: open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1.
  4. You should see the Configuration page.

Step 2: Choose your network and submit

  1. Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network from the list.
  2. Enter the network password.
  3. Optional: If the device has not been claimed to an account before, enter the email address associated with the account to automatically link the device to your Wi-Fi network.
  4. Press Submit.
  5. When the page asks you to, press the reset button on the device. The device restarts and connects to your network.

Wi-Fi signal strength: The device must have a strong enough signal to stay online. Depending on the firmware version, the signal is shown in dB or as a percentage.

  • In dB, -20 dB is excellent. -70 dB is the threshold the device needs to stay online reliably.
  • As a percentage, anything below 20% is weak.

If the signal is weak, install a Wi-Fi range extender between the router and the device to strengthen the signal the device receives.

Step 3: Check the Cloud LED

After the restart, the Cloud LED pulses yellow while the device connects. Then it shows one of these results:

Cloud LED What it means What to do
Random colors across all four positions The device connected and shows a claim code Write down the claim code, then register the device as described in the user manual
Blue The device was claimed automatically through your email The device is claimed. Continue to Step 4
Red The device has no internet connection, usually from a wrong password or weak signal Press reset and try again. If it still fails, use the password reset steps in the section below

Step 4: Finish setup

  1. Register the product as described in the user manual.
  2. Install the sensors as described in the user manual.

Reset the password

Use this section if the device will not connect, if the Wi-Fi password changed, or if you are moving the device to a new network. The reset steps depend on the firmware version.

Test first: Press the RESET button. If the Level Sense Wi-Fi network appears, use Method A. If it does not appear, use Method B.

Method A: Newer firmware (reset button opens the access point)

  1. Press the RESET button. The Level Sense access point stays on for 30 minutes.
  2. Connect to the LEVEL SENSE network and follow Steps 1 to 4 above.

Method B: Older firmware (Silence button reset)

  1. Press and hold the Silence button until all four LEDs turn solid red. Release the button.
  2. Press the Silence button twice.
  3. Connect to the LEVEL SENSE network and follow Steps 1 to 4 above.

If the device does not connect

If the device connects to Wi-Fi but never shows a claim code or does not appear in the app, use the password reset steps in the section above, then repeat Steps 1 to 3.
